Questions

Things people often ask

Getting started

How do I book a first session?

Send a message through the contact form with a little about what you're looking for. I'll reply to arrange a free 20-minute consultation, and we take it from there.

What happens in the free consultation?

It's a complimentary 20-minute call to meet, discuss the challenges you're facing, and ask any questions about the counselling process. It's there to help you decide whether we're the right fit for one another — there's no pressure to book.

Do I need to know what I want to work on?

Not at all. Many people arrive knowing only that something feels heavy or stuck. Part of the work is making sense of that together.

Sessions

How long is a session, and what does it cost?

Sessions run for one hour. Individual sessions are R400 and couples sessions R600. The first 20-minute consultation is free.

How does payment work?

I will invoice you after each session or a once-off initial invoice if you choose the up front promo. Payments can then be made via EFT.

Are sessions really all online?

Yes. Sessions are held securely online, so you can access counselling from anywhere — from your own home, or any space where you feel safe and comfortable. I'm based in Cape Town.

Who do you work with?

Individual counselling is available for children, adolescents, and adults. I also work with couples on relationship, marriage, and family or friendship challenges.

How often would we meet, and for how long?

This depends entirely on what you need, and we decide it together. Weekly sessions or sessions every two weeks are most common.

Scope & confidentiality

Is what I say kept private?

Yes. Sessions are confidential, and my aim is a safe, supportive, non-judgemental space where you can talk openly. The limits to confidentiality required by professional practice are explained to you upfront, before we begin.

Can you diagnose a condition or prescribe medication?

No. As an ASCHP-registered Specialist Wellness Counsellor, I provide professional, non-diagnostic counselling. I do not diagnose mental health disorders or prescribe medication.

What if my needs fall outside your scope?

I'll gladly refer you to a trusted HPCSA-registered mental health professional — a Psychologist, Psychiatrist, or another appropriate practitioner — so you receive the level of care best suited to your needs.
